Sweet Divinity Purse

Okay, have you seen enough Sweet Divinity yet from me?  No, I didn't think so.  This fabric is too much fun not to sew with.   But I did get a sneak peek of Amanda's next line of fabric 'Sugar and Spice'  and let me just say.... so so perfect!

Anyway, my other son decided to go to the birthday party that my first son was going to.   I needed a gift for him too.   Off to create with my Sweet Divinity.... I decided every little girl needs a cute little purse.
This one has a soft ribbon for the strap, a cute button to cover the closure and the inside has striped fabric.

I kinda want one myself.

Sweet Divinity Pencil Roll Up

My son has a birthday party to go to this weekend, and we needed a cute gift.   For a girl no less!!  With 2 boys in the house, sometimes girly things are a bit hard, as I am unsure of what the commercial trends are.

No problem this time, I just pulled out some leftover Sweet Divinity fabric and whipped up a cute pencil/pencil crayon roll up.

Trend Tex Challenge

Each year Trend Tex Fabrics generously donates fabric to the Canadian Quilters Association for our annual challenge.   This is our major fundraiser for the organization.   Wall quilts are made up and sent to the annual convention and a silent auction takes place.    This year's theme is Quilting in the Forest.

I am working away on mine.   Of course it is going to be 3D.  You can see this by the green branches poking out of one picture.   I have discharged and stencilled the fabric with Shiva Paintstiks.

Here are some pictures of my progress.

Sweet Divinity Bag

A friend of mine has a child who wanted a new bag.  I gave them some of my Sweet Divinity fabric, as I thought it would be perfect.    And it was!   They whipped this up in an afternoon.

A Few New Pieces of Clothing

As easy as it is for me to have a fabric stash for quilting, I can't stockpile fabric for clothing.   I have no problem continuing to buy more fabric for 'that someday quilt', but I cannot just keep buying fabric to make clothes.  I have no idea why... it is obviously a serious flaw in my character that doesn't allow my to buy copious amounts of knits and wools and fleece.

When a flyer came this weekend for a great fabric sale on knits next month, I got busy sewing up the fabric I had already purchased so I could justify going and getting more.

I made 4 pairs of pajama pants, 1 top (not shown) and a cute skirt.

The pajama/lounge pants are really fun.  Look close, one pair shows bras all over it.   I live in 'cottage country' and we grew up with a camp that had an outhouse, so I have a pair with outhouses all over it.   How cool is that?  The last pair is some fabric my mom gave me, and it is very slippery and slinky, I love that feel.

I have 2 more pieces to use up, but think I will borrow a different pattern(s) and perhaps make a skirt and blouse set.
Here are the pictures.  Don't you think I can now go and buy some fabric for my spring/summer wardrobe?

My Mom Went to Vegas!

I love when my parents travel!

My mom is a quilter and after many trips of her coming back with fabulous fabric and me saying, 'Why didn't you buy me some?'  And her saying, "I didn't know if you would like that!"   I have insisted that she always carry a virtual $20 in her pocket for me.   So if she sees something I may like, she knows to just buy it and that virtual $20 will turn into a real $20 and a smiling daughter.

This time, I was a bit more prepared.  I did my research and located 2 quilt shops in the Vegas area.  She made it to one and was absolutely thrilled with it.   I told her to buy me fabric with circles.   I have a thing for cirlces right now.  Don't ask me why, I haven't analyzed that.

Anyway, here is how she made out.

Pretty good eh?

The next picture is flannel that she bought for me, and I turned them into pajama pants.   They are so comfortable and so fun to wear.

Good job Mom!  Can't wait till your next trip.

Leaf Bowl for CQA/ACC

As I have mentioned before the Canadian Quilters' Association national quilt show is in London Ontario this year in May.  For the first time, I plan to go.   One of the things they do is ask guilds across Canada to make something for all the delegates attending.  In past years, it has been table toppers.  This year it is a leaf bowl.   It was fast and easy to do.  I made it by fusing material to both sides of timtex.   Next I cut out the pattern and zigzagged all the way around.  Last I sewed up the slits on all four sides to give it the bowl appearance.

Finished Sweet Divinity Wall Hanging

I got my latest little quilt done.   I am not sure if it will be a wall hanging, or I may give it to a little girl for a quilt for her doll.   I am leaning toward the latter.  I randomly put some cute buttons throughout too.

Sweet Divinity Wall Hanging

Somebody stop me!  I can't get enough of this fabric line.  Here is a pic of the top of my latest wall hanging, seconds before it came floating down from the wall.   I still have to quilt it.

This fabric really allows for all sorts of creative quilts to come out of it.   I will quilt it in the next day or two and already have prepared more of the fabric for a funky art quilt.

Sweet Divinity Mug Rug

Okay, I can't help myself,  I love the line of fabric that Amanda of The Quilted Fish sent me.   I had to make a fun mug rug today, with the left over fabric I had after making my top secret tutorial.   (see post below)

This Friday, will be the first tutorial featured on The Quilted Fish by KarrieLyne of Freckled Whimsy.
You should really check out her blog!  It is fun and fresh, and oh so quilty!   She is a real gem as well.

Now I must get back to Sweet Divinity and see if I can squeeze one more little project out of that fabric!
